On June 16th, Aybee is coming down from Oakland to grace the decks at Inspiration! If you're like us and hooked on some deep, minimal, uplifting, spaced out african rhythms... then you've heard of Aybee and his productions, hope to see you all on the floor this night!

Aybee (Deepblak, Prescription/Futurevision)

Emerging in 2001, Aybee (aka Armon Bazile) has caught the attention of many in soul/electronic music space armed with a distinct sound that some say meshes the drum of urban intensity with the ethereal sentiments of a Zen Temple. Releasing music under a wide range of monikers (Orion 70, Afrobatik, o1o, Lamaj, Bla Kula, Prof Delacroix) Aybee’s versatility extends into soul/techno/house/hip-hop/ and film.

A product of Oakland, CA, Aybee comes from a steep family tradition of soul, rebellion, and exploration. Born from “The Struggle” he developed a strong affinity for music’s link to social movement. Experiencing first hand the power of music’s ability to help people transcend the often-unforgiving streets of Oakland. It is that uplifting power of music, and dance that ultimately pushed Aybee to embark on the exploration of himself as an artist.

After keeping music a private endeavor through the years in 2001 Aybee launched Deepblak Recordings as a creative outlet for his music. Upon releasing a slew of underground remixes along with original material, Deepblak’s future soul sound began to gather a following along with turning some heads within industry mainstays. Ultimately catching the attention of legendary Producer/DJ Ron Trent. In 2003 Trent signed Aybee to his critically acclaimed Prescription Records imprint, leading to Aybee producing the 1st release (Deepblak’d PRI001) on the newly re-launched Prescription. Aybee also along with Trent formed Indigenous Space People, and released their 1st single “Across The Universe” on Prescription sub label Future Vision in 2005.

Since such time Aybee has gone on to release more than 30 releases, which includes his much heralded “Revolution Of 1 EP” on his Deepblak imprint. Well establishing himself as one of the most innovative producers on the scene. While forging forward in developing Deepblak as a home for avant-garde music, Aybee has also gained momentum as a sought after Selecta with some of his mixes approaching cult status. A blending of seamless mixing coupled with a fearless approach to programming are the main components of Aybee’s DJ philosophy. Emerging from a school of highly skilled Dj’s he pushes to elevate the dance floor experience while championing good music.
